About B-Tham...
B-THAM plays a large variety of genres from techno, house, electro, tech house, progressive house and electro house.
He believes that applying yourself to one genre can leave you limited. As he would say: “A DJ’s job is to discover what their audience likes in music, at the moment that everyone is in a club, and to work the fields on either side to please the punters. If it wasn’t for them, then we DJs would only be bedroom bangers”.
If you do get the chance to see B-THAM playing, don’t miss it. Currently you can catch him adorning Canberra clubs Holy Grail, North Bar, Monkey Bar, Lot 33, Academy and Transit Bar. B-THAM has supported internationals such as D.I.M.(Boys Noize), Skool of Thought(UK), Lee Mortimer(UK), and a wide range of National supports such as Bass Kleph, Mark Dynamix, Beni, Tom Piper, Emily Scott, Timmy Trumpet, Craig Obey, Lady Lauryn, Sgt. Slick, Knife Machine, DJ Wag, Harris Robotis, Andy Murphy, Anna Lunoe, Yoshi and many more to come.
B-THAM started mixing in April 2005, and played his first gig in July 2005 at In Blue nightclub. B-THAM started with hardstyle music and continued to rise in the hard dance genre in the ACT under the name of Skreech. At the end of 2005 B-THAM was invited to play at the New Year’s Eve party at the Indoor Rock Climbing Centre, landing a peak set in front of 450+ people. In mid 2006 B-THAM decided it was time to take his DJ career to the next level and move on from the hardstyle he was playing, to seek out music with more soul in order to better connect with his audience. This was when the man went into hiding to practice his new and flamboyant style of electro techno tech house that exists today.
B-THAM went on to develop his skills with his new genre, which he had moulded into a hybrid of hardstyle turntable techniques, fat driving techno, house, unique vocals, and a dash of electro. This new sound began to make a big impression on unsuspecting Canberrans. In August 2007 B-THAM worked to gain himself a permanent gig within a club called North Bar on Northbourne Ave, and in the following month (September 2007), he had gained his first residency. From here, larger crowds beckoned, and B-THAM landed his second residency at Uni Pub in Canberra in November 2007, a gig that saw him spin in front of 200+ people every Friday and Saturday night, and also once a month downstairs on early Friday nights playing light house music.
B-THAM continued to mix it up until October 2008 at the Uni Pub, at this time deciding he wanted to be a part of the wider dance community in Canberra. In the search of this goal he found a place called Monkey Bar. Within a week of playing, the man had landed himself a residency, as well as supports at the beloved Pang! Nights. In June 2009, B-THAM got into competition mode, successfully making the finals of the PANG! DJ competition.
Now, the man is setting his sights on the noble pursuit of gathering a regular following of eager peeps who appreciate the music culture in clubs, and to represent the people, the music, the location, and all the other elements that create an atmosphere – the very essence of a great club night.
Now B-THAM has recently started venturing into other states to take on Australia and show them why he is playing at every club in Canberra. With already a few shows at some Sydney Clubs and future shows in Brisbane to come.
With this young man just hitting the clubbing scene in Australia and firmly in Canberra, we have a lot more to see from him.
